Like a lot of other MMORPGs, PVP is an integral part of Nodeka.

From "help challenge:"

Challenge:

Simply, the duel. After receiving mild experience at Nodeka (level 30+) you
will be allowed to conduct your own personal challenges against other players.
There are certain resistriction [sic], as with anything, that you must abide to
start a challenge with another player. First and foremost, challenges between
players that are not equally matched will be turned down. Secondly, you must
compete in a challenge you begin. If you do not, the Citadel will punish you
severely. Beware the power of the Citadel, as you can be its beneficiary or
its prey. To begin a challenge simply type:'challenge <player name>'. After
the challenge begins, you must type 'compete' to join. Best of luck! And only
the strongest of the strong will prevail as Champion!! [sic]

How it works[edit]

First, if the players are of the same remort tier, you simply challenge them by issuing the command "challenge player." This is what initiates the duel. You'll see the output:

## Doos has challenged Dalimar to a citadel battle!
## Type 'compete' to begin your competition!!

Next, you must type "compete" to join the battle in the Citadel. You'll be transported into the Citadel in preparation for the duel.

The battle starts at the top of the next game tick, or minute. For example, if you challenge someone at 0:01, you'll get 61 seconds to get ready and challenge. The reminders for you to "compete" in this example will be nearly back to back. If you challenge someone just after the tick, say 0:59 remaining, you'll get the reminder message at the tick, and have 119 seconds to join from your initial challenge.

The help file says you will be punished severely for not competing after a challenge. In that case, your pools are knocked all the way down:

## The challenge between Doos and Dalimar is now closed!
## The citadel shames Doos for challenging without competing.
