Gemstones are used in crafting. They are a special type of crafting material which can be used to transform the stat set, boost the base level, or increase the chances of gaining an inspiration of a crafted item. You can generate them generally in one of two ways: a very rare chance from salvage, or by trading with Commodity trader Stacy.

Transmutation[edit]
Transmutation is the ability to take one or more gemstones and transform them into a different one. This action typically incurs a heavy cost of base materials, but could yield the results you're looking for in a crafted item. See the full article for details.
Special Events[edit]
There have been several gemstones that Whim has created and given as special prizes, and ones which can be transmuted, but not found naturally. Below is what we've seen so far:
- < gemstone > a fallen star
- < gemstone > god-flame
